About 2022 Mid-Atlantic Walk & Roll to Cure FSHD

The 2022 Mid-Atlantic Walk & Roll to Cure FSHD
Saturday, Sept. 24th
Alpha Ridge Park, Marriotsville, MD

The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the FSHD Society will be participating in the International Walk & Roll to Cure FSHD - the only event focused solely on funding progress for FSH Muscular Dystrophy.
Register to walk or roll today, as a team or individual walker. Invite your family, friends, club members, neighbors, co-workers, classmates or congregation to join you. Everyone who registers will be given a free participant page and access to a state-of-the-art fundraising center. From there, you can share your story on social media and via email, and invite others to join you in getting us closer to a cure!
We are working together to make a difference for those living with FSH Muscular Dystrophy! Find out more information about the Walk & Roll here.

Here are a few last-minute tips to help you make the most of our event:

  • The address for Alpha Ridge Park: 11685 Old Frederick Rd, Marriottsville, MD 21104.

  • The event is rain or shine. Accuweather is predicting a mostly sunny and pleasant day, with a high of 71 degrees – yay!

  • Wear comfortable shoes, hat, and sunscreen. Our colors for the day are red, teal, and white, if you want to really go wild on your wardrobe. Walk t-shirts will be at check-in for those who raised $100 or more. (Because you’ve all been so successful, we may need to distribute some after the event.)

  • Bring a chair or a blanket to enjoy our post-walk concert! (Seating in the pavilions is at picnic tables.)

  • A map of the park can be found here. Registration and event festivities will be held in the pavilions, which are located at the first driveway to the left after entering the park.

  • There will likely be other activities (sports) happening during our event. Parking is limited, so please carpool if possible.

  • Lunch will be served after the walk. Please bring water and any other snacks you wish to enjoy.

  • Dogs are welcome but must be well behaved, on leash, and under your control at all times.

  • The schedule for the day:
    • 10 am  Check-In Opens
    • 11 am  Walk Begins (our walk is a short .67 miles of flat, paved walkway)
    • 12 pm  Celebration Lunch, Caregiver Ceremony - a chance for FSHD patients to acknowledge those who support them, and Entertainment by the Award-Winning Acoustic Trio Wicked Sycamore
  • 2 pm    That’s a Wrap!

Why Participate?

FSHD affects nearly 1 million men, women and children worldwide, leaving them with the inability to walk, raise their arms, or simply smile. The FSHD Society is the largest network of patients, families, clinicians, researchers and friends - all advocating for FSHD. YOU are the driving force that enables the FSHD Society to support & empower families and to fund groundbreaking research to find treatments and a cure!

How Your Support Makes a Difference

Your support of the FSHD Society will be put to work right away, to push forward the most promising research, help empower patients and families to live stronger, healthier lives, and press the government and major institutions to give FSH muscular dystrophy (FSHD) the funding and attention it deserves. Your support ensures that no patient need ever face this disease alone, and pushes us towards our goal of delivering treatments to our families by the year 2025!
